NV Land Guide
The once important fishing port is now a modern marina, and the former ferry port no longer exists. The frigate "Jütland"" left its anchor here at the northern entrance to the town near the former ferry harbour before it went on its last voyage to Ebeltoft as a future museum ship.
The surroundings of Juelsminde, known for its good bathing beaches, are suitable for shore excursions. If you want to get an idea of the landscape first, take a walk to Troldemosebakken, which rises 110 metres above the flat land to the northwest of the town. In good weather you can overlook the wooded surroundings and see as far as Snaptun.
Built around 1550 and remodelled in the 19th century, Palsgård Castle to the north-east of Juelsminde is not open to the public, but visitors are allowed to walk through the estate's grounds. Also worth seeing is the As Church a few kilometres north of Juelsminde.
For the rest, the area around Juelsminde, which has 2500 inhabitants, is Jutland holiday country to the east and south, with summer cottages and holiday settlements.
The southeastern headland Bjørnsknude is practically "built up" with summer cottages.
Due to the shorter distance, a visit to Glud Freilandmuseum is more recommended from Snaptun (see Snaptun), but those who do not sail to Snaptun harbour should visit the museum village from here. The facilities in the museum houses illustrate the simple country life of days gone by.
