Description

Small, well protected and popular with connoisseurs, this inner-city port was still partly under construction in 2021.

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The harbor is located in the north, opposite Strib, and is easily accessible from both the SW and SE. The entrance is difficult to see due to the new development in the background and is currently unlit in the dark.

Berths

At a water depth of 5 m, it is possible to moor in the inner area at one of the approx. 20 berths on stern piles (dolphin spacing at the north pier 10 m); in the front harbor basin (40 berths), fixed stern lines on both sides allow mooring. The inner area between the dolphins of the pier and the north pier is very narrow and offers little space for maneuvering.

Attention: At the north pier, the tugs arriving and departing in the outer harbour cause "sliding swell", a protective fender is recommended for stern berths.

In easterly and southerly winds, swell can build up in the harbour, especially in the northernmost part, which definitely ruins the sleep and the lines/fenders.

Surroundings

Due to its location, there are several supermarkets nearby, a restaurant right on the harbor, which also serves the floating terrace. Sanitary facilities are located on the east side of the harbor, where various snack and ice cream stands await customers.

NV Land Guide

Fredericia, located on the Little Belt on the east coast of Jutland in Denmark, is a popular tourist destination not only because of its historical significance, but also because of its well-preserved fortifications and picturesque surroundings. The city was founded in 1650 by King Frederick III and played an important role in Danish military history.

Fortifications: One of the main attractions of Fredericia are the impressive fortifications, which are among the best preserved in Northern Europe. They were originally built to protect the city against enemy attacks. Today, visitors can walk along the old bastions and trenches, which offer an insight into 17th century military architecture.

Mindeparken and Landsoldaten monument: Mindeparken, a spacious park in the heart of the city, is a memorial to those who died in the Battle of Fredericia in 1849. At the center of the park is the impressive Landsoldaten monument, which depicts a Danish soldier and commemorates the victory and sacrifice of the battle.

Fredericia Theater: Fredericia's theater is known for its innovative and often experimental theater productions. It attracts art lovers from all over the country and is a central part of cultural life in the city.

Beaches and harbor: Fredericia also offers a number of beautiful beaches along the coast that are popular with locals and tourists. The city's small but charming harbor is an ideal place for a stroll, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the harbor and sample local food.

Historical churches and buildings: In addition to the military and natural sights, Fredericia also has a number of historical churches and buildings. Trinitatis Church, dating back to 1690, is particularly notable for its architecture and the historical artifacts it houses.

Overall, Fredericia offers a fascinating mix of history, culture and natural beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world. It's a place where you can easily spend several days to fully explore all the different facets this historic city has to offer.
