Helgoland is a popular tourist destination in the German North Sea with a marina. Moorings can be found in the south harbor at the WSC-Helgoland jetty or on the pontoons of the Ostkaje. The harbor is often overcrowded, especially at Easter, Ascension Day and Whitsun, and packs of 20 ships are not uncommon. It may be possible to anchor in the south-western part of the south harbor, but only with permission from the harbor office (VHF 67). The inland harbor may only be used for bunkering for short periods. There are about 10 berths available for guest berths in the north-east harbor, to be registered with the harbor master. The dune harbor is closed

Navigation
The approach from the south, well buoyed and lighted, is no problem in normal weather, but in rough weather from the SW you have to reckon with breaking seas. The approach from the north is not recommended in bad weather or at night. It is essential to observe the navigation bans in the nature conservation areas (high penalties).
