Description

Sibenik - a large city on the river Krka with a worth seeing old town and other historical buildings. The city quay is located before  on the waterfront of the old town,  south (4.8m water depth) and north (3- 3.4m water depth) of the fire at the car service station.  Here you are very central but restless, because of the passing ships.

Šibenik was first mentioned in 1066 as a fortified fort St. Michael (now St. Anna). From 1119 to 1133 it was under Venetian rule, then Byzantine until 1180 and then Hungarian-Croatian. From 1412 to 1797 again under Venetian rule and until 1918 it came to Austria-Hungary.

The list of cultural monuments from the eventful history of the city is long, but in any case you should visit the cathedral Sveti Jakova, it is together with the fortifications on the UNESO list of World Heritage Sites.
