Picturesque fishing and pleasure boat harbour in a sheltered bay in the northwest of Tjörn on the Stigfjord
NV Cruising Guide
Navigation
The course coming from Kråkefjord is unlit and is therefore particularly difficult for those unfamiliar with the area in the dark. The Vannholmen archipelago can be passed both to the south and to the north. The crossing power line has a clearance of 32 m in the north and 19 m in the south. After passing Vannholmen, you can follow the land to starboard at a moderate distance until you have rounded the small skerries that lie to the north of Björholmen's harbour. After that, one has to keep in the middle of the narrows and steer towards the bridges. The name Strömsund for the narrowness between Björholmen and Smögholmarna is well chosen, as here, the current changes its direction with the wind and the tides. It sets most of the day but westwards with 2 - 3 knots.
Berths
You moor at fixed stern lines or between poles at the outer bridge on marked places. After consultation, other free places can also be used. The water depth is 2.5 - 3.5 m. The harbour offers good shelter, except in north-easterly winds.
Surroundings
This picturesque former fishing village is now mostly used as a summer residence. It is located in the Stigfjord nature reserve and is sure to keep nature lovers busy. There are bus connections here, especially to Skärhamn.
