The approach to the fired harbour can be made day and night. Note the shoal Engelskmandsbanke, which extends about 0.8sm into the sea to the east of the harbour and is marked with a red buoy. Yachts should not approach the harbour in onshore gale force winds as the entrance is narrow and winding. In addition, there is then an unpleasant ground sea.

Berths

Guests will find good berthing possibilities at the jetties of the marina at approx. 3.5 m water depth or in the western fishing harbour. At weekends and in the high season the harbour is often occupied by Swedish sailors. The eastern fishing harbour is only used by yachts when the other possibilities are extremely full.

Surroundings

The rather dreary place offers the usual sanitary facilities as well as a repair service, fuel and supply facilities. It is also a good starting point for island excursions.

NV Land Guide

Østerby, the eastern of the two harbours on Læsø, is certainly the more cosy, but offers considerably less space than Vesterø. In addition, the home port for around 50 fishing boats and the marina can become noisy and restless during the main holiday season, when Swedish yachting enthusiasts "raid" the small town and sometimes drink excessively. But the small harbour empties in the early and late season.

The fresh lobsters, which can be bought at the harbour, are a culinary reason to come here.

In addition, you can choose from a wide range of fish (also ready meals) at the harbour in the "Læsø Røgeri og Fiskenhandel". In the fish shop at the harbour you can buy not only fish, but also amber collected and processed by the owner herself.

Other than that, the small village with a nearby campsite has nothing special to offer, apart from the beautiful sandy beach. However, island tours by bike are highly recommended (sights and island history: see Vesterø).
