NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the harbor is unproblematic day and night. Good landmarks such as the former NATO tower near Klaustorf, the silo in Heiligenhafen and the vacation center make it easy to find your way. After keeping well clear of the shallow "Wanderhaken" (white sector Heiligenhafen lighthouse at night), a very well buoyed and lighted channel with a water depth of 5 m leads to the harbour.

Attention: The GRG pole "19 / Warder 2" must be passed to the north or east when entering or leaving. A maximum speed of 5.4 knots applies in the Heiligenhafen fairway.

Berths

Consult the harbor master for guest berths. Bridges 1B, 1C, 1D are used by the charter base.

Some berths (specially marked) are located in the visibility area of the leading light line 279.2°. These may not be occupied by sailing yachts, as the masts restrict the visibility of the light (in the event of infringement, the skippers concerned may face heavy fines)

There are also guest berths in the marina of the Segler-Vereinigung-Heiligenhafen at the fishing port.

Surroundings

The vacation resort, which is very popular at times, offers good supply options (ship chandlers, sailmakers and petrol station with marine diesel).
Right on the east pier is the bunker station, where you can buy the coveted marine diesel. There is a ship chandlery at the fishing port.

The well-maintained laundry room also has washing machines.

NV Land Guide

To describe Heiligenhafen as a very cozy harbour town would be to ignore the fact that tourism is the main economic basis of the small town. It is very busy in the high season. For anglers, the town is a popular port for setting off to the surrounding fishing grounds. Nevertheless, the small town with its beautiful historic old town and old market square is by no means a castle of beds without atmosphere, quite the opposite: Kippers, matjes, halibut, cod, eel, mackerel, plaice ...

Whoever says Heiligenhafen must also say Graswarder. The rugged peninsula in front of the harbor is of great importance for bird migration. In guided tours lasting one to two hours, bird wardens use display boards, reliefs and bird specimens to provide interesting facts about the birdlife in the nature reserve. Anyone can join the free guided tours, which take place daily at 10.30 am and 3.00 pm. A café-restaurant on the dune peninsula (Graswarder 13) allows you to enjoy tea or coffee with a view of the sound.

While the Graswarder extends from the marina in an easterly direction, the Steinwarder lies to the west. A beach promenade runs between an inland lake and the Baltic Sea directly along the approximately four-kilometre-long beach.

The vacation center with its hotel towers on the opposite side of the inland lake to the northern marina is one of the less tranquil parts of the city, but offers a whole range of sports and leisure activities. In addition to a swimming pool, sauna area, wellness and beauty area, the "Aktiv-Hus" also offers something for younger sailors: the little ones can experience adventures in the "Schatzinsel" children's area, while teenagers and the young at heart can enjoy various trendy sports whatever the weather.

The 700-year-old Heiligenhafen church with its stepped gable is one of the town's sights. The almost life-size sculpture of St. Christopher with the baby Jesus and the wooden sculpture of Adam and Eve are artistic treasures of the church in Kircherstraße. More information can be found in an information leaflet on display in the church.

A medieval relic is the "Old Salt Store" in Hafenstraße, now a restaurant of the same name.

The "Karl-Bütje-Museum" in Lauritz-Maßmann-Straße houses memorabilia from the life and work of the poet Theodor Storm, among other things. His daughter Lisbeth married the Heiligenhafen pastor Gustav Haase in 1879, so Storm had personal connections to Heiligenhafen and met the inspiration for his novella "Hans and Heinz Kirch" here

Hier geht die Post ab. Sehr großer Hafen, alles super sauber und top organisiert. Die Seebrücke ist sehr sehenswert, das umliegendene Naturschutzgebiet ebenfalls. Innenstadt ist alles da, was man benötigt.
