Description

Small fishing and pleasure boat harbor on the east coast of Alsen.

Since mid-August 2024, the depth in the harbor entrance has been approx. 2.7m again due to dredging work. The pier light F.R. is out of operation until further notice.
There is still some damage from the storm surge in October 2023, but this does not affect the harbor stay any further

At the end of the season, the harbor entrance is often silted up to a depth of about 2.5m . At the beginning of the season, dredging is carried out regularly in April to restore the target depth

Navigation

The approach is unproblematic day and night, but at times there is a very strong current parallel to the coast. Keep well clear of the lighted eastern pier head of the rockfill (Fl.R.3s). The eastern side of the rockfill tends to silt up. Attention: In an onshore storm, there is a strong bottom sea in front of the entrance.

Berths

Guests lie on the western floating bridges (with fingers) at a water depth of 1.5- 2.5m. The south-eastern part of the harbor basin is reserved for fishermen. In strong northerly winds, the harbor can be choppy due to swell.

Surroundings

Cosy harbor with adjoining campsite, good basic service available, also kiosk and restaurant. The nearest small store for groceries is a good hour's walk away in Tandslet.

NV Land Guide

The port of Mommark has more atmosphere than the port of neighboring Fynshav, even though the small village above the port has little to offer culturally. But the harbor's location below a tree-covered hill is appealing in itself. In the past, only the ferry between Søby on Ærø and Mommark caused a little unrest. The turning maneuver of the ship, which had to turn on the proverbial plate, was always a spectacle. The connection now runs from Fynshav. Today, the adjacent camping site brings some variety to everyday life in the harbor. A frequently photographed motif is probably the harbor's pier lights, two turrets of a design that you would be more likely to find on a Greek island than on Als.

There is no longer much trace of the town's former importance as an important ferry station on the decommissioned Faaborg-Mommark line. Fynshav has taken the place of Mommark. The largest megalithic monument in the north is located between these two ports at Kettingskov, about three kilometers from Mommark. Blommeskobbel is the name of the forest where the two long dolmens are to be found. The larger one measures 53 by 12 meters and has 69 kerbstones Two round dolmens can also be seen here.

The Lysabild Kirke ten kilometers southwest of Mommark was first mentioned around 1200. It was built out of gratitude after the inhabitants of Alsen escaped an attack by Erik of Pomerania's fleet because a storm had driven the ships apart. Even today, the left part of the church is called the "Holy Blood Chapel". For a long time, the chapel was a place of pilgrimage, which was believed to offer protection from attacks.

Aktuell liegt keine Backbordtonne vor der Hafeneinfahrt, anstatt dessen beim einfahren in den Hafen die drei Holzdalben an Backbord lassen.

Sehr netter, aber kleiner Hafen, ausgesprochen höflicher Empfang im Hafenbüro, welches gleichzeitig bzw. angeschlossen das Restaurant hier ist, auch dort äußerst höfliche Bedienung und gutes Essen.

Schöner, moderner Hafen mit benachbarten Campingplatz, aber ganz idyllisch gelegen... hier kann man mal nen Tag länger bleiben. Wenn nördliche Winde auf die Einfahrt stehen, am besten nach hinten verkrümmeln wegen Schwell...

Hafen mit Atmosphäre klein, hyggelig und mit viel Liebe zum Detail modernisiert. Gutes Restaurant, schöner Strand großzügige saubere Sanitäranlagen. Zum Sonnenuntergang spielt der Hafenmeister und Eigentümer auf der Trompete und wünscht allen im Hafen eine gute Nacht.

Sehr unruhiges Liegen schon bei 1Bft aus NW, Schwell, der einem die Nacht schlaflos macht. Außerdem wenige reguläre Liegeplätze, am Kai wird das Liegen gefährlich, man liegt schnell im Päckchen. Campingplatzatmosphäre! Sanitäre Anlagen, Strand und das Restaurant recht gut. Insgesamt aber nach Jahren der Abstinenz nicht viel Attraktives oder neues entdeckt.

Schöner Strand, alles gepflegt. Aufenthaltsräume mit Küche. Der Hafenmeister macht Abends selbst Musik :)

Super Hafen, schöner Strand, super Lokal (am besten reservieren, um noch einen Tisch zu bekommen), sehr nettes Team; hier kann man leicht hängen bleiben :-)
