Description

Viganj - has a long seafaring tradition, the captains and crews of the ships lived here.
Today, the place is a windsurfer Eldorado in the south of the Pelješac peninsula with a  vacation development on the shore and numerous restaurants, bars and stores.

 On the shore are small jetties, but most of them are too shallow and are suitable only for the local boats.
Moorings are almost none. East of the historic building with the tower is the ferry dock with 3m water depth - the only place to moor.

 Anchoring is there the better solution, you just have to find a place where no windsurfers are on the way. 

 Viganj is known for the windsurfing competitions, because here the wind conditions are usually optimal.
The climate in Viganj is very mild, because it is protected from cold north wind by the mountains. Therefore, the many tropical plant species that sailors from Viganj brought back from their voyages could grow well here. The place is like a botanical garden, with more than 260 sunny days a year cultivated over many generations. The water temperature never drops below 15°C.

From early spring to late autumn there is a lot of "mistral", cool NW winds around 5 Bft. that rarely reach 8 Bft. It starts around 10 am, reaches maximum around 2 pm, and ends before sunset (6 pm). The mistral is accompanied by good weather and cools the summer heat.
