Description

Baska Voda, already in the Bronze Age there was a settlement site here as around a spring below the Biokovo mountain. It was located at Gradina hill, which is northwest of the port on the waterfront. Here there are ruins of a settlement and a fortress, from the late antiquity. On the southern slope of the hill, parts of the defensive walls can be visited and on the northern slope there are tombs from the 2nd and 4th centuries.

The place was first mentioned in documents in modern times in 1688, a fishing, farming and trading village. Today it is a tourist centre, set amidst small pine forests, beaches and clear waters on the Makarska Riviera. Numerous sights and destinations in the vicinity of the town which stretches along the waterfront.
