Description

Multiple sheltered jetties on both banks of the Lanckener Bek in the north of the Having in the middle of a beautiful landscape.

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach is only possible during the day. From the entrance to the Having, steer 69° from buoy B2 to buoy B4 and then 52° to buoy B6. Keep well clear of the pile traps on starboard and the shallow "Gobbiner Haken" on port. From buoy B6 the course is 354° to the shallow buoy Lanckener Bek, which remains on starboard side.

Berths

There are jetties on the banks of the Lanckener Bek which are used by fishing boats and yachts. While the incoming jetties on the port side up to the bridge are used by locals, the 65 m long jetty and the quay on the starboard side are reserved for guest yachts. The water depths at both places are 2 - 4m. Often there is a strong current in the canal-like harbour, making it difficult to approach the pits.

Surroundings

Toilets, drinking water and catering facilities are available at the quay before the bridge. Another sanitary building with shower and toilet is located south of the fixed bridge. Bicycles can be rented in the village for excursions into the charming surroundings.

NV Land Guide

Between two hills and right next to high reeds, you lie here in a decidedly picturesque setting. Seedorf is a typical long village that stretches for two kilometres along the eastern shore of the Lanckener Bek.

The appearance of the small village changes from thatched cottages standing between trees in the south to detached houses in the village centre to isolated buildings by the fields in the north.

Of all the harbours in the south-east of Rügen, Seedorf is most conveniently situated for a special excursion destination - the Granitz hunting lodge (excluding the railway connection from Baabe to Granitz). The footpath is in any case the shortest from here. It first leads westwards over the wooden footbridge that separates Lanckener Bek from Neuensiener See directly north of the harbour. The following stops on the 5km walk are the settlement of Preetz, the village of Lancken-Granitz (burial mounds) on the southern edge of the granite forest with a village church built at the beginning of the 15th century, Blieschow and finally the hunting lodge.

The two-storey hunting residence with a square ground plan was built by Prince Wilhelm Malte I of Putbus in 1836 in Romanesque-Gothic style. Four corner towers adorn the plastered walls. But it is the 38 m high observation tower rising from the atrium that makes Granitz an exceptional destination. In any case, the 107-metre-high Tempelberg is the highest vantage point in the east of Rügen.

And the tower is the icing on the cake. Taking a breather from the climb up the spiral staircase, you can look out over large parts of Rügen, including the Jasmund Bodden as well as the Baltic resort of Binz. Panels inform the visitor which hills, valleys, lakes and places he has a bird's eye view of. The granite forest between the Baltic seaside resort Binz and the Baltic seaside resort Sellin is just as much at your feet as the "Große Wiese". Both are crossed by a network of hiking trails. Above all, however, the path along the steep coast between the two Baltic resorts is recommended for another excursion (see also Baabe).

Whether a visit to the aforementioned Baltic resort is worthwhile is a matter of taste. Situated between Prorer Wiek and Schmachter See, Binz has a wide, fine-sand beach, a tree-lined promenade, a spa pavilion and a spa house worth seeing. Less appealing are a row of five-storey concrete holiday homes and the lifeguards' futuristic-looking rescue towers.

For those who want to kill several birds with one stone, we recommend the following excursion: Walk south from Seedorf towards the Moritzburg restaurant (2km) and board the narrow-gauge railway there, get off at Garftitz station (mounds) and walk to the hunting lodge (1km), take the ferry boat in Moritzdorf to Baabe, walk through the forest past the duke's grave to the Phillipshagen narrow-gauge railway station (1.5km), after climbing the observation tower walk to the hunting lodge station and continue on the narrow-gauge railway, get off after three stops and walk along the shore, through Dummertevitz and Preetz back to Seedorf (6km).

However, if you want to leave it at a short excursion, the round hike of about four kilometres via Moritzdorf and Neuensien is recommended. You will pass the restaurant Moritzburg, 37 m above sea level, from where you can look over to the Sellin Lake as well as to the Having and the Gager mountains.
