NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the buoyed harbour entrance is from the southwest and is only recommended during the day.

Caution: The entrance tends to silting up. Yachts with a draught of more than 1.3 m should not enter the harbour.

Berths

Guests will find little space in the marina, which is mainly used by locals. Some guest places with about 1.8 m water depth are located on the outside of the western jetty. Otherwise you have to make arrangements with the harbour master. The ferry pier at the southern pier may not be used by pleasure craft.

Surroundings

Besides the usual harbour services, you'll find limited supply options in this scenic resort. Kios and restaurant at the harbour.

NV Land Guide

A large holiday home settlement dominates the picture around the small harbour at the sparsely populated western tip of Molsland. Among the appealing destinations in the centre of the western tip - three kilometres west of Skødshoved - is the small village of Tillerup with its six ponds and Lake Tillerup. Farmsteads surround the small "lakeland" of the village at the 51 meter high Bøgeberg, the second highest point in this corner of Molsland. The highest elevation is between the hamlet of Landbrørup and the handsome Isgaard manor, two kilometres southeast of Skødshoved.

Sights are few and far between. At most, the 16th-century Tved Church on the southern shore of Knebel Vig is worth a look for its beautiful frescoes, but it's closer to the Knebel jetty than to Skødshoved harbour.

Due to the shallow water, many pleasure craft won't be able to sail into the harbour anyway. If you find a place with your flat-going yacht, you will notice the old rails of the tipping lorries from the time when agricultural goods were shipped from Skødshoved to Aarhus. Transport by cargo ship was popular in the bays between Aarhus and Ebeltoft from 1850 to 1900 - until railways and lorries made it cheaper and faster to transport goods. The village of Dejret, two kilometres to the north-east, is the closest place to get supplies. You can get the most necessary groceries at the kiosk at the harbour or dine at the recommendable "Skødshoved Badehotel".
