NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach is unproblematic day and night. It takes place with 177° from the north. At night a leading light [2 Oc(2)9s] shows the way to the harbour. In the harbour entrance, which tends to silt up, mooring excursion steamers occasionally form an obstacle for incoming yachts.

Berths

Guests lie on green marked places. The water depth here is 1.5 - 2.8 m. The eastern breakwater in the northern part of the marina is reserved for passenger shipping.

Surroundings

The possibilities of supply are good. If you visit the customs office, you can moor up at the jetty in front of the customs building. Fresh fish, for example, can be bought directly from the local fishermen.

NV Land Guide

In the harbour of the former fishing village there are no more fishing boats. Only the boats of the sideline fishermen line the banks of the Langballigau, which flows into the harbour basin. The attractive landscape around the little river is a nature reserve and well worth a visit. Langballigau is not a particularly quiet harbour at the weekend. Tourist busses and the ferry service to Sonderborg cause a lot of trouble. But in the evening, the harbour becomes quite tranquil.

One of the sights in the area is, above all, the "Angeln Landscape Museum" in Unewatt, which can be reached on foot in three quarters of an hour with a walk through the charming valley of the Langballigau.

In the picturesque village there are individual so-called "museum islands" in the form of intact historical buildings such as "Marxenhof", "Christesen-Scheune", smokehouse, "Buttermühle" and the windmill "Fortuna". The farming life of bygone times is brought to life by the agricultural equipment and machinery that can be seen there.

The "Landhaus Unewatt", which was mentioned in the chronicles as early as 1694 as a royal cottage, invites you to take a break with exquisite cuisine.

The mill of Westerholz, a striking landmark southeast of the harbour, also houses a restaurant. In the village of Langballig, about three kilometres south of Langballigau, there is even a small indoor swimming pool. Directly at the harbour there is a kiosk, a restaurant, a merchant and an accessory shop.

On the south side of the harbour is the sea rescue boat "Werner Kuntze".
At the end of the steamer mooring there is a 6m high viewing platform.
