Description

Fishing and yacht harbour on the north-eastern shore of the Kiel Inner Fjord, 1 nm south of the Friedrichsorter Enge.

The approach is unproblematic day and night. You have to keep clear of the restricted area west of the U-boat Memorial Möltenort.

Berths

Guest boats are moored in the southern marina at about 2.8 m water depth, larger yachts on the inside of the outer breakwater in the fishing harbour.

Surroundings

Good supply possibilities are given. Möltenort is a recommendable guest harbour with good bus and ferry connections to Kiel.

Here one lies more quietly than in the lively Laboe. The district of the municipality of Heikendorf is one of the most distinguished residential areas on the Kiel Fjord. This is especially true for the wooded villa area Kitzeberg south of the harbour, which can be reached via the Fördewanderweg. Beautiful parks and bathing beaches characterize the area around the fishing harbour and the marina. The Stinnespark is located directly next to the marina and is adjoined to the south by the seaside bathing establishment. The Friedrichsorter lighthouse and the Holtenauer locks of the Kiel Canal are opposite Möltenort.

200 fishermen originating from East Prussia are to thank for the upswing in coastal fishing. For the fishermen who found their new home port here, a settlement was specially built on the Heidberg. The U-boat memorial north of the harbour reminds of the fact that in the First and Second World War far more than 30,000 men of the submarine weapon found their death. In the round of the memorial bronze plates with the names of the fallen of both wars were put up. The ore eagle on the red sandstone pillar is the landmark of the municipality Heikendorf visible from far away. The bathing beach at the memorial is one of the most beautiful in the Kiel Fjord.

Like Laboe, the municipality of Heikendorf is a place visited by many tourists in the season, which has an attractive surrounding area with numerous hiking and biking trails. If you want to explore this area by bike, you can rent a bike in the centre of Heikendorf. If the weather does not play along, there is the possibility of borrowing a book from the municipal library in the town hall instead.
