NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the lighted harbor (east of Molenkopf F.G.) is unproblematic. From the buoyed shoal "Avernakø Trille", keep clear with a southerly course - the green buoy remains on starboard as you enter - until you can see the harbor entrance. The entrance is privately buoyed and tends to silt up.

Berths

According to customer reports (May 25), the jetty on the south pier cannot be used until further notice due to a defect

There is sufficient space for guest berths in water depths of approx. 2.4 m.

Surroundings

New is the small private bakery and brewery on the way to the merchant after approx. 1km directly behind the fork.

NV Land Guide

The eastern and western parts of the island of Avernakø are only connected by a narrow, 700-metre-long land bridge. The charm of the islet in the South Fyn Archipelago lies in the farmland interspersed with bends and numerous half-timbered houses with thatched roofs. The approximately 130 inhabitants - who live from farming and fishing - uphold the traditions of their ancestors, as exemplified by the maypoles decorated at Whitsun in the villages of Avernakø and Munke.

There are several indications of the very early settlement of the island. For example, six gold bowls from the Bronze Age were discovered on the fertile island. In 1685, a farmer saw something shimmering in a furrow. After closer examination, the gold bowls came to light. The vessels, richly decorated with sun symbols, were probably sacrificial bowls.

The site south of Munkedorf is still called Guldager (Goldacker) today. The remains of a stone burial chamber with capstones can also be seen near the village of Avernakø. Two kilometers from the landing bridge, near Munke, are the remains of a megalithic grave. The name of the island probably comes from the word Arre and once meant oats, which suggests that farming was practiced on the island a long time ago.

Visitors to the island who are interested in art will find "Den Lille Kunsthal" at the old vicarage in the village (approx. 1 km from the harbour). The exhibitions are no longer limited to the island's artists. The summer exhibitions from the beginning of July to the beginning of August always feature guest exhibitors with photographs, paintings and graphics, true to the motto "preserving the peculiarities of the island's existence and combining them with a broad view - beyond the horizon".

There are ferry connections to Fåborg and Lyø, both approx. 3.5 nautical miles away. The ferry dock at the bridgehead is the only transport connection to the "outside world". The supply at the jetty in the west of the island is not particularly good. If you want to buy food, you have to walk to the village about a kilometer away. Home-grown produce is also available here, with meat from highland cattle and lamb raised on the island being particularly noteworthy.

Saison laut deren Webseite. Phantastischer Platz.

Langside jetty are not anymore only boxes looks bad maintenance

Duschen kosten 5kr/3min (in bar).
