NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

OLYMPIAHAFEN SCHILKSEE :
The harbor can be approached day and night without any problems. During the day, you walk towards the concrete terrace houses coming in from the sea, which are a very good landmark. The two entrances can only be seen very late in the day. They are not to be confused with the piles of stones to the south of the harbor. At night, the illuminated entrances (F.G) are easy to recognize. Until the entrances can be made out, you are heading towards the light of Strander Bay in the white sector.

Berths

OLYMPIA PORT SCHILKSEE:
The harbour master assigns the berths to the guest berths (water depth: 3-4 m)

Surroundings

OLYMPIAHAFEN SCHILKSEE:
With the exception of diesel, the port offers all the facilities of a modern marina, including a 15-ton crane. The port also has many of the amenities of a modern leisure facility, including an indoor swimming pool and a bathing beach to the south of the port. During Kiel Week, the port is only open to regatta participants

NV Land Guide

The much-maligned building material concrete was used very lavishly in Schilksee for the 1972 Olympic Games, but not without imagination. Although the size of the complex, which looks monumental from a distance, is somewhat more manageable due to the division into north and south harbors, it is only during Kiel Week that it comes to life. There are almost always plenty of free guest berths available.

However, if you are not necessarily looking for a cozy atmosphere, but for good facilities, there are plenty of positive things to do in the marina. The large complex offers numerous stores (including ship chandlers), various restaurants and a swimming pool. The opening hours of most stores are extended to 7 days a week during the season. In the Schilksee commercial area (approx. 3 km south of the harbour) you will find more ship chandlers/sailmakers as well as engine repairs and other yacht-related trades.

If you want to take something positive away from Schilksee, you can see a visit as an excursion into the architecture of the 1970s. Dänischenhagen is a great destination for an excursion. A hiking trail leads through the Fuhlensee lowlands to the village. The trip to Kiel is also no problem with the bus or ferry steamer.

As a rescue unit of the "German Maritime Search and Rescue Association", the rescue boat "Walter Rose" is moored in the Olympic Harbour.

Comments

Große moderne Marina. Hier gibt es Alles was man als Bootsreisender braucht, besonders die Fischbrötchen sind zu empfehlen. Es gibt nirgendwo Bessere. Nette Hafenmeister. Der 70er Jahre Stil der Gebäude ist nicht jedermanns Sache.
