Information

From 1945 until its dismantling in 2021 (following damage), the Nordschleusenbrücke was considered Germany's largest railway swing bridge. It was an important link for rail and road traffic in the port area. Until the replacement structure is completed, a former Weser ferry has been serving as a replacement bridge for factory and road traffic since 2022.
The passage of seagoing vessels through the connecting canal can be opened by the ferry if necessary. Recreational boats cannot pass through here.
