NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

Borkum is easy to approach even in unfavorable wind and weather conditions. Access to the harbor is via the deep fairway of the Ranzelgat along the mouth of the Ems. South of the illuminated three-legged beacon, you enter the "Fischerbalje", which is buoyed on both sides. To the north of the fairway is a breakwater, which is flooded at high tide and offers immediate protection in the fairway. The harbor basin is spacious and has a depth of approx. 3.4-3.6 m at low tide.

Berths

Guest berths are located on the north side of the old naval pontoon 1, which is located on the pier. Pontoon 1 is the southern pontoon.

Up to three boats may moor next to each other.

Guest berth holders should report to the Burkana harbor café (clubhouse) or call the above telephone numbers.

Surroundings

There are three restaurants right on the harbor with good views. There is a washing machine in the restaurant at Port Henry

There is also a bunker station for diesel (at the larger Osthafen) or bread rolls from the harbour master, but otherwise there are no supply options directly at the harbour.

However, there is a bus and train connection to the town of Borkum, 6 km away, or you can also hire bicycles from the harbour master. In the usually very bustling town you will find very good supply options.

There is a 16t crane at the harbor.

Safe deep harbour on all tides. Many yachts rafted up so you can be sure of getting a place. Good price. Smaller boats will want to tuck into the NW corner of Ponton 1 to avoid the occasional wash of service vessels. (Extra star because we like the down-to-earth feel of the harbour. )
