Description

Fishing and marina on the north-eastern shore of the Kiel Inner Fjord, 1 nm south of Friedrichsorter Enge.

The approach is unproblematic day and night. You must keep clear of the restricted area to the west of the Möltenort submarine memorial.

Berths

Guest boats are moored in the southern marina at a water depth of approx. 2.8 m, larger yachts on the inside of the outer pier in the fishing harbor.

Surroundings

Good supply options are available. Möltenort is a recommended guest harbor with good bus and ferry connections to Kiel.

NV Land Guide

The location here is quieter than in lively Laboe. The district of the municipality of Heikendorf is one of the most upmarket residential areas on the Kiel Fjord. This is particularly true of the wooded Kitzeberg villa area to the south of the harbor, which can be reached via the fjord hiking trail. Beautiful parks and bathing beaches characterize the area around the fishing port and marina. The Stinnespark is located directly next to the marina and is adjoined to the south by the seaside bathing establishment. The Friedrichsort lighthouse and the Holtenau locks of the Kiel Canal are opposite Möltenort.

200 fishermen from East Prussia are to thank for the boom in coastal fishing. A special settlement was built on the Heidberg for the fishermen who found their new home port here. The submarine memorial to the north of the harbor commemorates the fact that well over 30,000 men died in the submarine forces during the First and Second World Wars. Bronze plaques with the names of those who died in both wars have been placed in the walkway of the memorial. The ore eagle on the red sandstone pillar is the landmark of the municipality of Heikendorf, visible from afar. The beach at the memorial is one of the most beautiful on the Kiel Fjord.

Like Laboe, the municipality of Heikendorf is a popular tourist destination during the season and has an attractive surrounding area with numerous hiking and cycling trails. If you want to explore the surrounding area by bike, you can hire a bike in the center of Heikendorf. If the weather is not playing ball, you can borrow a book from the municipal library in the town hall instead.
