Die Einfahrt in den gut beleuchteten Handelshafen ist sowohl bei Tag als auch bei Nacht problemlos. Von der südlichen Kardinalboje (Q(6)+LFl.15s.) führt ein Licht (2 Iso.2s.) durch das betonnte Fahrwasser bei 019°. Nördlich des ersten Wellenbrechers schwenken Sie nach Steuerbord in die beleuchtete Einfahrt in den Stadthafen. Im Innenhafen auf die Bojen hinter dem Wellenbrecher achten.

Liegeplätze

Gastliegeplätze befinden sich im südlichen Innenhafen von Varberg, nahe der Stadt. Yachten können entlang des Kais in 4-5 m Tiefe oder an den mit grünen Schildern gekennzeichneten Stegen festmachen. Die Liegeplätze der Fähren sind reserviert und dürfen nicht von Yachten benutzt werden. Der Hafen bietet Schutz vor allen Windrichtungen und entspricht den Standards des STF-Gästehafens.

Versorgung

Varberg ist eine große Stadt mit hervorragenden Versorgungseinrichtungen. In der Marina Getterön, die durch einen Bus und eine stündliche Fährverbindung mit Varberg verbunden ist, kann man tanken und Reparaturen durchführen.

Vom Handelshafen gibt es eine Fährverbindung nach Grenaa in Dänemark.

NV. Landgangslotse

Halland’s second-largest city is located on a geological boundary, where the sandy bays of the south transition into the rocky coastline of the north. In the Middle Ages, when southwestern Sweden was part of Denmark, this was an important strategic and political border. The town, with about 20,000 inhabitants, features the typical Swedish checkerboard street pattern and is now a popular seaside resort, comparable to nearby Falkenberg. A Moorish-style bathhouse, built in 1870 near the harbour, shows that the bathing tradition was already established by the early 20th century. Varberg also gained a reputation as a health resort after a spring was discovered in 1811, though today only seawater is used.

The main attraction is Varberg Fortress, built on coastal rocks in 1287. From its ramparts and café terrace, visitors have sweeping views of the town and Kattegat. Inside, the castle museum displays the unique medieval costume of the 600-year-old Bocksten Man, along with 35,000 other objects, including the bullet that killed King Charles XII. The casemates are open to visitors, and the museum is open daily in summer. Another exhibition, the Samfärdsel Museum in Charles XI’s stable, presents historic wagons, boats, bicycles, and motorcycles.

The fortress itself was expanded by Christian IV around 1640 and was one of the strongest castles on the Kattegat during the Kalmar Union. After Denmark ceded Halland to Sweden in 1645, it lost its military value and became a prison, housing notable inmates such as General Pechlin, accused in the assassination plot against King Gustav III. Today, the castle also contains a youth hostel and restaurant, and its courtyard hosts summer concerts.

Other highlights include Societetsparken with its restored Societetshuset (1883/1953), a popular summer meeting place, and the harbour glassworks, open in July and August. In the town centre, the market square features Bror Marklund’s 1939 bronze sculpture Boy and Girl Playing Ball.

West of town, Getterön Peninsula and Apelviken Bay offer long sandy and rocky beaches, popular with bathers and naturists alike. Getterön is also a bird reserve with over 100 nesting species and is a key stopover for migratory birds. A boat connection links the marina with Varberg town centre.

For families, Varberg’s 450,000 m² Sommerland amusement park, located 5 km southeast of town, offers attractions for all ages (free entry for children under 1 m). Nearby, the Åkulla forest and lakes provide cycling, fishing, rest cabins, and accommodation.

Other sites include Tjolöholm Castle, a 100-year-old Tudor-style estate with a café and carriage museum, situated 6 km northwest of Varberg, and Broåsen burial ground, 4 km east of town, where ancient dolmens, trident mounds, and court rings bear witness to prehistoric ritual practices.
